Yes, Mermayd is spelled with a "y"... because it's cooler that way!
This is the first of a series of three paintings I did for my Painting Studio class. I did my series on a battle between Mermayds versus Unicorns. This explains the origin of the battle, which if you can't tell what's going on, then I didn't do my job properly. XD
I had lots of fun making the unicorn and some of the mermaids ridiculous.
One of the mermayds is rockin' her facial hair and six pack!
I used watercolour and India ink for this one. This is probably my favorite of the three mediums I chose, only because 1.) I'm familiar with it, 2.) Watercolour doesn't cover up your drawings, plus, I was able to draw with a pen and ink, which is easier (for me at least) than drawing with a brush with paint and 3.) Watercolours have a bit of a marker effect, so I was more familiar with the technique. XD
I kind of did this one in a hurry. (Hence background suckage.) I spent a lot of time on the other two (particular the third one, which I worked on first), then this one was last and I finished in five hours. It's big, too, on a full sheet of Rives BFK paper. I think it shows I can push myself to finish in time for deadlines when the deadline isn't from me, though!
I'll upload the other two tomorrow... it's late (3:30-ish am) and I've been really busy with family stuff and tired.
So you get to wait in anticipation for what weirdness ensues!
